Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly/NOT Instantly Want to Read a Book

Top Ten Tuesday is a wildly popular meme brought to us by The Broke and the Bookish. This week I am doing something different. I missed last week (I was lazy) so this week I am gonna mash up the two. So…

April 25:Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly NOT Want To Read A Book (topic originally done back in 2013) — tell us all your book turn offs!

Plus! Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want to Read a Book

With out further ado, here’s my list of things that make me want to read a book:

1. Pretty covers

I fall in love so quickly with book covers. Just love ’em. Lately, the ones that just have text in a cool font and nice layout have really caught my eyes.

2. Zombies

If you have read other posts, you’ll probably be able to tell that I’m a huge zombie fan. So naturally, if a book has got zombies in it I’m gonna want to read it.

Shitty Poems I Wrote When I was Young…

…er Than I am Now

Alrighty, sorry I missed yesterday’s Top Ten Tuesday, got busy there for a sec. Normally like to pre-write those and didn’t get a chance to. Who am I kidding? I was being lazy as hell. I’ll be doing a smash up (???) next week combining the two weeks. If that makes any sense

I was cleaning up my laptop (going through random, crappy files that I had stored in it for some reason) and found some poems I wrote my freshman year (I think) of highschool. That was three years ago, don’t think I have improved much, but hey, I’m not much of a poet. This was for a creative writing class that was half-assed together by the teacher. So these are my half-assed attempts at poetry.

So, enjoy these shitty poems:

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten of the Most Unique Sounding Books on My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a wildly popular meme brought to us by The Broke and the Bookish. This week they asked us to list the following:

April 11: Top Ten Of The Most Unique Books I’ve Read (topic originally done 4/14) Some variations: top ten unique sounding books on my TBR, top ten most unique books I’ve read in X genre, etc

This one sounds fun. So here we go:

1. The Book Thief

This book looks so good and from what I was told it is told from the perspective of “dead”. So awesome.

5 Things on Sunday: Blogging Tips

Here’s a fun post for you all out there. Here is a meme brought to you by Reads and Treats.

This week’s topic is blogging tips. Hmm… I wouldn’t classify myself as a “good blogger”. So, I don’t think I’m qualified for dishing out tips. I’ll try my best to sound like I know what I’m doing. Here’s my Top Five Blogging Tips:

  1. It’s okay to not post everyday–Seriously. Trying to crank out posts everyday is exhausting and will just wear you out. Plus, I found that I’m not a huge fan of bloggers that post everyday. It kinda starts to feel like spam. I try to only post about 1-4 times a week.
  2. Have a name for your blog that you like–yes, you want it to be attention grabbing and catchy, but you also should like it.
  3. Try to stick to a content theme–don’t post about everything under sun. It’ll be harder to obtain a hardcore audience that way. That doesn’t mean you can’t post about stuff outside your normal content every once in a while though. I like to do that, it gives your reader a chance to learn more about you.
  4. Consistency is good–readers like consistent posts. While I am terrible at this, try to create a posting schedule. I don’t think you need to stick to it religiously, but having some sort of schedule will help draw more readers in because they can count on you having something for them.
  5. Have fun–don’t make this a chore for you. I’m assuming that this is a hobby for most of you. That’s what it is for me, and if it’s not fun and is starting to feel more like a chore is it really worth doing?

DFTBA and feel free to add your two cents in the comments.

Review: Penryn & the End of Days Series

Penryn & the End of Days (Angelfall, World After, End of Days)

Susan Ee

Young Adult/Fantasy/Paranormal>Angels

Penryn is trying to survive. Because after the angels came to destroy the modern world there are no rules. Streets are ruled by gangs and angels are hunting for humans. When her sister is kidnapped Penryn will do everything she can to find her even if it means working with the enemy. Everything could happen in this new dangerous world.

I’m gonna do something a little different for these three books. Instead of doing individual reviews, I’m gonna review them as a whole series. This is gonna be a crapshoot, as I have no idea what I am doing.

This is a pretty good series. Each book was great in its own way but also fit together really well. The first two in the series was a re-read, I read them probably a couple of years ago. In the last 1 or 2 weeks I reread them so I remembered what the heck was going on before I read the last. They weren’t as great as I remembered them being but they were still definitely enjoyable. I also think I reviewed Angelfall a ways back, but when I started over the blog I deleted it. *facepalm*
