Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly/NOT Instantly Want to Read a Book

Top Ten Tuesday is a wildly popular meme brought to us by The Broke and the Bookish. This week I am doing something different. I missed last week (I was lazy) so this week I am gonna mash up the two. So…

April 25:Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly NOT Want To Read A Book (topic originally done back in 2013) — tell us all your book turn offs!

Plus! Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want to Read a Book

With out further ado, here’s my list of things that make me want to read a book:

1. Pretty covers

I fall in love so quickly with book covers. Just love ’em. Lately, the ones that just have text in a cool font and nice layout have really caught my eyes.

2. Zombies

If you have read other posts, you’ll probably be able to tell that I’m a huge zombie fan. So naturally, if a book has got zombies in it I’m gonna want to read it.

Shitty Poems I Wrote When I was Young…

…er Than I am Now

Alrighty, sorry I missed yesterday’s Top Ten Tuesday, got busy there for a sec. Normally like to pre-write those and didn’t get a chance to. Who am I kidding? I was being lazy as hell. I’ll be doing a smash up (???) next week combining the two weeks. If that makes any sense

I was cleaning up my laptop (going through random, crappy files that I had stored in it for some reason) and found some poems I wrote my freshman year (I think) of highschool. That was three years ago, don’t think I have improved much, but hey, I’m not much of a poet. This was for a creative writing class that was half-assed together by the teacher. So these are my half-assed attempts at poetry.

So, enjoy these shitty poems:

5 Things on Sunday: Blogging Tips

Here’s a fun post for you all out there. Here is a meme brought to you by Reads and Treats.

This week’s topic is blogging tips. Hmm… I wouldn’t classify myself as a “good blogger”. So, I don’t think I’m qualified for dishing out tips. I’ll try my best to sound like I know what I’m doing. Here’s my Top Five Blogging Tips:

  1. It’s okay to not post everyday–Seriously. Trying to crank out posts everyday is exhausting and will just wear you out. Plus, I found that I’m not a huge fan of bloggers that post everyday. It kinda starts to feel like spam. I try to only post about 1-4 times a week.
  2. Have a name for your blog that you like–yes, you want it to be attention grabbing and catchy, but you also should like it.
  3. Try to stick to a content theme–don’t post about everything under sun. It’ll be harder to obtain a hardcore audience that way. That doesn’t mean you can’t post about stuff outside your normal content every once in a while though. I like to do that, it gives your reader a chance to learn more about you.
  4. Consistency is good–readers like consistent posts. While I am terrible at this, try to create a posting schedule. I don’t think you need to stick to it religiously, but having some sort of schedule will help draw more readers in because they can count on you having something for them.
  5. Have fun–don’t make this a chore for you. I’m assuming that this is a hobby for most of you. That’s what it is for me, and if it’s not fun and is starting to feel more like a chore is it really worth doing?

5 Things on Sunday: Freebie!

I’m back with a fun, little post. Here is a meme brought to you by Reads and Treats.

This week’s topic is a freebie. So I decided to do Top Five Things on My Bucket List. Alrighty, let’s get this party started:

  1. Road-trip across the country–this is something I want to do when I’m fresh out of college.
  2. Ride a mechanical bull–I just think it’d be fun.
  3. Get a tattoo–we’ll see about this one. Not sure if I’m brave enough, but I think it’d be fun to have one that meant something to me when I was young to have when I’m old.
  4. Go skydiving–just to say I did.
  5. Travel outside the USA–I’d love to go see Ireland and Scotland.

DFTBA and feel free to add your two cents in the comments.

People Who Need to Stop Coming to the Library

I’ve worked at a public library for the past two years and I love it. It’s the best job I have ever had. That’s not saying much though. The only other job I have worked is at McDonald’s. Library wins by a landslide.

I should totally do a post about my time at McDonald’s.

I specifically work in the children’s room, though I occasionally help out in other departments as needed. My main job is doing all the bulletin boards and theme board artwork. It’s fun, I get to draw all day. Besides doing that, I also help patrons, shelve books, and read the shelves (the children’s room is the black hole of books so we constantly have to read the shelves to make sure books are in the right place). My least favorite part of the job is dealing with nasty patrons. Go figure, no one likes that. For your entertainment and as a PSA, I have compiled a list of the worst people who come to the library.
